One of the suggestions that came out of our survey was that we re-activate the cuss word censors.

As some of you may recall, we used to have them, not just for cuss words, but also for certain spelling idiosyncrasies that had caused some people undue frustration or insult (ex: God with a small "g" intentionally). When they were discovered, there was an entire thread arguing that this was thought-policing and wrong and that we should do away with censorship on the site and people should just buck up and "deal."
Well, I tried to explain THEN that part of the censorship was to protect people from people like ME
For some reason--Lord help me--I have a foul mouth in print. I have no idea why. I type very fast and the invective sometimes flies out of my fingers as I think it and I don't go back and take it out. I don't *speak* like this in person, but in writing, it happens. Censors keep me honest

Well, it turns out that people really ARE more upset by reading foul language than they thought because we had more than a few complaints about it and, rather than allow it to continue, I've reactivated the censor word replacement for cuss words ONLY. If there are people who are put off by those who don't capitalize "God" or "Jesus" or stuff like that, or who use all caps to get around censors altogether, I would ask that they please contact those people directly or just try to deal with it and accept that it's probably nothing personal.
I've only put in the most commonly used cuss words so far, and have replaced them with their "tv-censor" equivalents, but I'm sure to have forgotten some. So if you type in the f-bomb, and it gets changed to "frack" for example, that's why.

Here's hoping this softens some of the tone of the site, or at least stops people like me from inadvertently offending people on an hourly basis
